Whether it is CSR, Sustainability or ESG Storytelling, the biggest challenge that most managers have is the ratio of text to visuals in their reports and communication materials. Often the photographs are group shots of people taken on a phone that only make sense if the text is read, however the image distracts the viewer/reader from the text and so the objective of the communication is compromised.
I want to share some ESG/CSR/Sustainability stories that I have created for clients.
This is the story of a construction company who had two objectives: 1) they wanted to show their clients what happens to waste to assure them it is separated and recycled. 2) they wanted to motivate on-site teams to reduce operational waste.

Mixed construction waste goes into skips on or near the site. With limited space in places like London it’s virtually impossible to separate waste on-site, which means it has to be collected and separated for recycling at the numerous dedicated facilities around the M25.

Separating the waste is done through a combination of manual sorting and sophisticated technology that can read and sort items as they pass through a series of conveyors belt.

Once sorted into the streams, the waste is then packaged ready to be sent for recycling.

Greater insight into the sorting process has helped to inform sustainability initiatives on-site.

CAN I CAN HELP YOU WITH ESG STORYTELLING?
I have over 25 years experience of visual storytelling. I started to help clients communicate sustainability strategies in the early 2000s and since then I have also studied at Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, so I’m very familiar with the issues and challenges.
